Pedestrian Struck at Intersection of Bristol and 17th
By Nancy Ngo
On Tuesday, March 4th, a 14 year old girl (whose name has not been released) was hit by two cars on Bristol and 17th street near Santa Ana College. In the videos online, you can clearly see her running across an intersection with several cars speeding to get across the light. As she’s running across the intersection, you can see a truck hit her on the side making her turn and run into another car. The second car hit her right in the front, making her tumble and collapse on the floor. She stands up but then falls back down immediately.
The first car fled the scene, never stopping to check if the person he hit was okay. Adan Camacho was arrested for a felony hit and run. A fellow Samaritan followed the truck driver and called 911. Without this Samaritan, Adan might have gotten away.
The driver of the second car, Amanda Aie Sananikone, did get out of the car to check on the 14 year old girl; however, when the police came and asked questions, Amanda never said she was involved in the scene and then left the scene immediately. Amanda was later found and also arrested for suspicion of felony hit and run.
One of the Santa Ana police officers said that if both of the drivers stayed, then it would've been the girl's fault because she’s the one that “jetted out in the front” of the cars. “She was responsible for what happened," he added..
The girl was hospitalized and treated for leg injuries.
